Hannah Petkau's creative pursuits began at an early age on a remote island off the west coast of Canada. In 2015 she completed her Bachelor of Fine Art with Distinction at the Alberta College of Art + Design, with a major in Drawing, for which she received the ACAD Board of Governors’ Award and the Governor General’s Academic Medal. Her work was exhibited across Alberta with the Alberta Foundation for the Arts Traveling Exhibition Program from 2018-2021, accompanied by multiple workshops and artist talks. In 2019 Petkau participated in a two-month residency and exhibition at Mas els Igols in Spain.

Petkau has worked as an event and wedding planner, floral designer and food and restaurant stylist, including at the world renowned restaurant, River Café in Calgary, Alberta. These fields and her visual art practice insect with a focus on arrangement and composition; situated between striving for simultaneous tension and balance, and refined order and unfinished/undone gestures.

Petkau is currently a MFA candidate at the University of Oregon and is currently based in Eugene, Oregon.
